About Me
Who am i....
I am a 22 years old who absolutely LOVES food and fitness. I know right? Many people say "But isn't food and fitness like the opposite? Don't you have to be on diet if you want to maintain fitness and a good physique?". Every time I hear this i just laugh because it is so ridiculous! I hate the word diet. I hate this culture of thinking that in order to be 'in shape' one needs to be restrictive. Because what i believe in is not a diet, it is a lifestyle. A lifestyle that entails being active, intuitive eating, indulging and so much more.
But it wasn't always like that....
My fitness Journey began around 2015. I was in second year of university and had extremely low energy levels and motivation. Before university my weight and wellbeing was never an issue and i paid very little attention to diets and exercise because my body always naturally maintained its physique. However, during the first year of university I had gained a large proportion of weight after i moved into a university residence that fed me food with a very low nutritional profile . Weight gain was not my only issue and my thyroid took a turn and was on the verge of being underactive. I was generally unhappy about what life had to offer and I remember feeling a sense of hopelessness and paying minimal attention to taking care of myself.
It was halfway through second year in university that i realised that i had to make a decision to better myself in the long term both physically and emotionally. I made a difficult decision to cut people out of my life who i felt were no longer productive to my wellbeing. Additionally, a friend of mine who was also keen on making life-style changes spoke me into joining the gym with her. At first this was a daunting thought as although i did dancing at school i was never an individual who loved sport and exercise. However, i quickly spoke myself into it and before i knew it i was taking classes with her at the gym. As cliche as it may sound, this was the foundation of what my future lifestyle would entail.
Fast track to 2017 and i am now an individual whose lifestyle has transformed her health. By health i don’t just mean that i lost all that weight, but how i FEEL. Through this journey, I have learnt that health involves so much more than weightloss, and entails both physical and emotional wellbeing. I have learnt to love my body and nourish it with nutrition that can help it be the best it can be, while maintaining a BALANCE (pizza and chocolate, I'm looking at you !)
This is my journey, that i would love to share with all of you
